In december 1997, Air Portugal introduced a new name, logo and livery on their first A330. The would-be backbone of their longhaul fleet. From LAP -Linhas Aereos Portuguesos-, to a more modern and straightforward, Air Portugal. One might expect a loss of customers from a namechange, but Air Portugal actually saw a rise in passenger numbers in the first quarter of 1998.
