MD-11 - Delivery and retirement

In 1990, BahamAir was looking to expand it's widebody fleet from the A310s that it had acquired in 1984. Initially wanting 3 more A310s, BahamAir and Airbus were unable to come to a deal for three more airframes. Turning to Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas for the same requirement, BahamAir took bids and placed an order for the upcoming MD-11 in 1988.

C6-BTU arrived on December 25th, 1990. It made it's first revenue flight only three days later, from Nassau to Franfurt. Two more MD-11s would follow suit in 1991, giving BahamAir the ability to reach out and bring tourists in from Europe and the Middle East.

As part of the fleet consolidation along with the A330 order in 2014, C6-BTU was retired on April 17, 2016, after 26 years of service. It was flown to San Francisco and back to Nassau on it's last revenue flight, before the last BahamAir crew flew it to Memphis to be converted into a freighter. C6-BTU was sold on May 30, 2016 to FedEx and continues to fly today.

Thanks!  Just gotta delete the website, since there's no way the company had one in 1990.

Thanks for giving credit for the dirt effects!

I feel like the logo is too modern for the top livery
