Itali 1947, Douglas DC-8-40

In the early sixties, Itali entered the jet age with some brand new DC-8s. As a loyal Douglas customer, it only seemed natural for Itali to select the DC-8 over the competing 707.

The aquila (as it was nicknamed within the airline) allowed Itali to expand its global network with its high speed, superior comfort, longer range and greater capacity. Unlike most customers, the airline selected the Rolls Royce Conway engines.
