Iam new a player in AE and the in-game aircraft utilisation is something that confuses me. As I want my plane to be on time, looking at the OTP sitting at just 60% baffles me. I have played 2 worlds so far, the first one I used 18-19 hours which is probably too high. In the second one, I use around 16-17 hours a day. Let's remember that this is the block time, not the actual flight time itself.

 

I flew with Emirates on DXB-BHX frequently. I believe Emirates utilise their aircraft around 12-16 hours a day depending on the destinations and what I mean is only the flight time itself excluding the turnaround. Most of the major destinations in Europe and Asia are around 6-8 hours, excluding Middle East, from Dubai. As for the DXB-BHX, the flight takes about 7 hours and the same for the return. Also, they must use the same aircraft for the return flight. I usually take EK39 which is a 0725 flight from Dubai and arrive at BHX around 1125(in winter) or 1225(in summer) UK time. The return flight, EK38 departs just 2 hours later which arrives around half hour after midnight in Dubai. If we calculate the total block time, it is around 17 hours.

 

What I mean here is that 16-17 hours utilisation in-game should yield higher OTP rather than just 60%. It's kind of depressing to see some people use an aircraft just 12 hours a day and left it hanging around half the day when it can make more money.

 

Btw, I joined the latest Rdelta and S4E and actually managed to get 96% rep in Rdelta and 100% in S4E but I pulled out from both because I am quite busy atm

I think I agree with you. It seems that it is almost impossible to max out OTP.

Hubs help you get connecting pax to fill your seats when competition or something makes your normal loadfactor low. Connecting pax seems to pay only half the price of regular passengers, but it is better than nothing. Also, It could help you maintain a high loadfactor should you aim for reputation.

I have just started my new airline in Denver, to optimize resources I have reduced the number of gates to just 2. I pay for two but for some reasons I only have 50 slots in total. How can it be?

Do you fly 50 frequencies from that airport? That may be the solution.

Or maybe it's a glitch.
