Airline Description:
  • ALAS (Aerolineas Latinoamericanas) is a multinational airline group based in Santiago, Chile. The airline operates a combined fleet of nearly 400 Airbus and Boeing jets across its four branches, which makes it the largest airline group in South America. While ALAS as a singular airline only came to be in 2003, its four branches date back to as far back as the 1940s. It formed in the later 80s as an exclusive alliance as a way for South American airlines to compete against the threat of foreign airlines in the continent and eventually merged to become a singular airline group.
