In Topic: WINNERS ANNOUNCED AE Arabic Airline Design Contest 2018

19 July 2018 - 03:51 PM

Thank you for all the work you put into this! Although I didn't do particularly well (I didn't expect to, so all is well), it was good fun to be a part of, and it was great to see the feedback on every single design (although I would also love to see the exact breakdown of the scores you awarded)! I know that this was a type of design which you specialise in, I would love to see more of these, with completely different design briefs, in the future! Thanks again!

About ALTAIRA

Translating to "bird," ALTAIRA is a low-cost carrier based out of Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) in the United Arab Emirates. With close proximity to Dubai, we offer a more affordable alternative to the luxury carriers operating throughout the United Arab Emirates and the Persian Gulf area. ALTAIRA began operations in 2004, and has become particularly successful considering the competitive nature of the routes which it serves.

Fleet

ALTAIRA currently operates a fleet of 42 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. By using this aircraft alone, it allows ALTAIRA to keep maintenance costs low, to ensure low fares for all of our passengers. Nevertheless, ALTAIRA has recently placed an order for 5 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with the intention to increase this order in the near future, to modernise the current fleet.

Destinations

Whilst the majority of ALTAIRA's destinations can be found within the Persian Gulf, North Africa, and other parts of Asia, there has been a rising demand for low-cost flights to and from Europe. Therefore, as of 2018, ALTAIRA currently serves these European destinations:

Azerbaijan - GYD - Baku Heydar Aliyev

Belgium - BRU - Brussels

Bosnia & Herzegovina - SJJ - Sarajevo

Denmark - CPH - Copenhagen

France - CDG - Paris Charles de Gaulle

France - LYS - Lyon-Saint-Exupéry

Germany - FRA - Frankfurt

Germany - MUC - Munich

Germany - TXL - Berlin Tegel

Greece - ATH - Athens
Ireland - DUB - Dublin

Italy - FCO - Rome Fiumicino

Netherlands - AMS - Amsterdam Schiphol

Russia - DME - Moscow Domodedovo

Spain - MAD - Madrid Barajas

Spain - BCN - Barcelona-El Prat

Spain - PMI - Palme de Mallorca

Sweden - ARN - Stockholm Arlanda

United Kingdom - LGW - London Gatwick

United Kingdom - MAN - Manchester

Design

Since it began operations, ALTAIRA has continued to be a bright and modern airline. Although the United Arab Emirates and the emirate of Sharjah are full of exciting history and culture, ALTAIRA has recognised that there is a unique market beyond luxury carriers, and part of filling that market involves creating a brand which is recognisable and memorable. The current design, used since 2011, can be seen below. This design is featured on all of our current 737-800 aircraft and will continue to be painted onto our incoming 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Still taking requests?

Potentially. I don't have as much time as normal but if it is something I am interested in, I will give it a go! I've sent you a PM.

In Topic: VESTA - Font Help

01 May 2018 - 12:53 PM

I feel like Billboard is more of a low-cost style and Vesta is not. I'm not saying it's impossible to have a billboard on a FSC, but it's rare. I think the problem is the font itself. It's not unique. There's a hundred fonts like that. You need a font that's unique. Something that has letters you don't see when you're typing a paper (minus Ubuntu, that's a cool font).

That's fair. I've searched a long time for a font that works (especially in all caps) but haven't found anything just yet. Will keep looking.
