Incorrect Passenger Capacities

Posted by Wizzie on 12 October 2011 - 06:50 AM

The main concern I have is the passenger capacities of the Douglas DC-8 which, for the most part as I have discovered thanks to The Douglas DC-8 Airport Planning Manual (Skip to Page 25 and continue from there) are incorrect. The actual capacities are:

DC-8-30/40 series: 177 passengers (Up from 176)
DC-8-50 series: 189 passengers (Up from 176)
DC-8-62/72: 189 passengers (Down from 259)

I then found out a few hours later than the capacity of the Vickers Super VC-10 is also incorrect. It's actually 174 as stated here and here, an increase from 151.

Updating status to: New Report

Lots of aircraft have incorrect data. I'm planning a review of all aircraft that will start when I get a bit more time to myself.

Thanks for the links though, help with data gathering is always appreciated.

No problem. Boeing have several airport planning manuals like the one for the DC-8 if my memory is correct for their aircraft available from their website.

Updating status to: Acknowledged, Waiting for Fix

The VC10s have been updated.

I began updating the DC-8s, but I believe there may be an error here. The DC-8-60/70s are stretched versions of the previous versions, aiming to be high capacity. It therefore seems unlikely that they would have the same max pax.

It would be very surprising for Boeing to get the data wrong, but equally it doesn't fit what I am expecting and all other sources say otherwise. I will hold fire until I can see the type certificates for this aircraft as that will be definitive.

Correction: I mistook the -62 for the -60. The data should now be correct.
