Is it just me or is the A350-900ULR less range than the regular A350-900?

I noticed that the A350ULR on a flight from EWR - SYD or EWR-PER had to lower the weight even tho the A350-900 is meant to have less range it doesn't have to lower its weight? The regular A350 has 9,537 mi (11,220 max) of range. And the ULR has 9,520 mi (11,200 max)

Correct, this is intentional because the ULR has more fuel tanks, which weigh more and cause more fuel to be expended carrying other fuel, decreasing the range. In real life, the only way to operate a ULR to the higher range is to only have Premium Economy and Business in a low density config.

but then if it's the ULR shouldn't the Max range have more than the regular 350, it would make the ULR obsolete then because it cost more and wouldn't be worth it.
