Boeing 747 Seating Capacity

Posted by Delta Force on 14 March 2012 - 03:43 AM

According to this source, the seating capacities for Boeing 747s are as follows:

Listed on page 11:
Boeing 747-100: 440 or 550 (with 4 or 5 type A exit pairs, respectively)
Boeing 747-100B SUD (an early version of the 747-400D): 550 or 660 (with 4 or 5 type A main deck exit pairs, respectively)
Boeing 747-200B: 440 or 550 (with 4 or 5 type A exit pairs, respectively)
Boeing 747-200C: 440 or 550 (with 4 or 5 type A exit pairs, respectively)
Boeing 747SP: 400
Boeing 747-300: 550 or 660 (with 4 or 5 type A main deck exit pairs, respectively)

Listed on page 14:
Boeing 747-400: 660

Listed on page 17:
Boeing 747-400D: 660

Don't forget you also have the B741/742SR (Short Range - Domestic) models that seat 568 respectively from both Japan Airlines (JL) & All-Nippon Airways (NH).

:)

Those are maximum certified seats in the type certificate. Check the following for typical seat configurations:

For 747-100/-200/-300/-SP
http://www.boeing.co...s/747_123sp.pdf

For 747-400/-400ER
http://www.boeing.co...acaps/747_4.pdf

For 747-8
http://www.boeing.co...acaps/747_8.pdf

AE uses maximum certified seats, not typical.

Yup, it should be maximum certified seats however the max seats in AE don't match any of the figures in the type certificate.

Boeing 747-100 475
Boeing 747-200B 475
Boeing 747-200C 475
Boeing 747-300 492
Boeing 747-400 524
Boeing 747-400D 625
Boeing 747-400ER 524
Boeing 747-8I 581
Boeing 747SP 350

Obviously the 747s are wrong...
Wow. Data wrong.
Not possible O_O

I will take a look, and get back to you later

The 747s in game should now have correct seating capacities.

Thanks

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but in S1 why is the 744ER listed as having a max seat capacity of 660, but the larger 748i listed as having a max seat capacity of 605?

Sheepy already answered this - the capacity is based upon the certification and the 744ER is certified to carry more passengers.
Why the 744ER is certified to carry more passengers is a more difficult question - maybe the long upper deck and shorter main deck is easier to evacuate?

For the airlines that operate the 748i (Lufthansa and Korean Air off the top of my head), they won't ever need more than 605 certified seats anyway. There's no point paying to certify an aircraft for 700+ seats if it's only ever going to see <500.

Once the airlines put pressure on Boeing to up the certification, then we'll see a higher max certification.

Hi all,

Talking about 747-8I, I would like to discuss about the range information.
According to http://ae31.airline-...hp?aircraft=182, permitted range for 747-8I is

7,472 mi

(8,790 max)

But in my research at http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Boeing_747, http://en.wikipedia....ki/Boeing_747-8, http://www.boeing.co...fact_sheet.html, permitted range for 747-8I is

14,815 km (8,000 nmi).

I do need some feedback, why is the difference occur? Is there any other calculation in the game?

Thanks
