Concorde Runway Length

Posted by Northern on 29 January 2012 - 02:05 PM

i dont think Concorde's runway length is 10,000+ feet

i dont have plain evedence of this but i do know that Concorde ust to be used for flights out of leeds bradford (7,382) and Newcastle Airport (7,641 ft) whisle fully loaded, please change the runway requirments :P

http://www.concordes...shreport/6.html

"TORA = 3,370 metres"
(Take Off Run Available)

3,370m = 11,056 ft.

I know it did take off from Leeds on a few occasions, but this was not a commercial service and wasn't loaded with enough fuel for a transatlantic journey. The Vr speed would have been much lower compared to a standard commercial departure.

I have checked the runway requirement for Concorde, and it seems that the entry in AE was actually lower than reality, so I have updated it to the real world figure: 11,778ft.

Flights into Leeds and Newcastle could not have been fully loaded, or they wouldn't have got off the ground.

At this time, AE doesn't take into account the loading of aircraft in its runway calculations. This is something planned for future versions.

Thanks for letting us know!

Concorde did fly commercial services from Leeds to Paris. Also from Bournemouth (7450 ft) and other airports for commercial supersonic cruises into the Bay of Biscay.

Ok, but I'd like to see it take off with the same amount of fuel and payload bound for JFK
