I have a smaller hub set up on Houston's Hobby Airport. On a couple flights of my routes, I'm only getting like 5-7% of connecting passengers. I'm using about 280 slots in Houston. Most routes are smaller sized cities nearby (DAL, New Orleans, Colorado Springs, etc) connecting into HOU with expanded service into Florida, California, and a couple of destinations on the east coast. Is that about average?

5-7% is a lot for an airline your size.
Connecting passengers are simply a space filler, they only pay 50% of the ticket price. Usually most people avoid connecting pax on large routes as they lower your competitiveness.
