Subsidiaries

As everyone knows, many airlines have created subsidiaries (ex. NWA Airlink, Ted, Song, and American Eagle) to help with shuttle flights and income. So I was thinking, "Why not in Ae?" Now, this is not to pressure Miller, we all no after all the work he has put/ is putting into this he deserves a good long break, its just a suggestion. Large airlines could launch smaller airlines to help with local flights. This also has the added plus of not having to risk half your airline on a small part of the world, as subsidiaries could go bankrupt without the parent airline doing the same thing. Tell me what you think.

would be way to complicated to code probably and not worth the time.. just make it up in your airline.. i don't think this is needed to be in the game.
There would be no advantage in doing it either.

"NWA Airlink, Ted, Song, and American Eagle"
Of these, only eagle was ever a subsidiary. Not sure if they still are.
At the end of the day, the only real purpose of most airline subsidiaries is to hold down labor costs for the small aircraft flying. If you have a money lsoing part of you buisness in the game as is, you can shut it down! sell the planes, close the routes, and return the gates. There really isn't a reason to declair it bancrupt, even if you could. That ability would allow airlines to create money loosing "leech" airlines, starting $1 fares to hurt other airlines before going under themselves.

I agree with what Nathaniel says, just make it within your own airline. Thats what I did in AE V.1 I created a subsidiary in Europe, I just named it, Cardinal Airways EU. I used it as a feeder for my Transatlantic flights. Since most of the destinations to Europe were not profitable from hub airport .

Sorry to say, but i believe it wouldnt be any good in the game. People would just use it to undermined others, by putting routes to like $1 just to get rid of some competition!!!!
As Nathaniel and Cardinal AIrways, just do it within your current airline by having a hub in a certain region, which connects to your main hub and operates routes. It would be much easier and more control!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually,
AmericanEagle (i think) is the only regional carrier thats operated by American Airlines. However Chautuaqua, and Trans States do American Connection, AmericanEagles ATR service.
The only part of AmericanEagle operated by AA I believe is Regional Jet Service (ERJ, CRJ) correct me if I'm wrong, but i do think AmericanEagle is fully owned by AA (with the exception to some parts of service )
just my two cents!

Chataugua and Transtates both fly ERJs, TS also flys J41s. All subcontracted AA codeshares are connection, all wholly owned are Eagle.

I think subsidiaries is a great idea, especially when the subsidiary can be run by another person.
American ... run by little Johnny
American Eagle ... run by little Timmy
