Hi, I'm a newbie here.

Just wondering whether I could get some help re just getting around the game (I'm playing SIM3 or AE Classic (I'm such a newbie I don't know!)). What I'm wondering in particular is how you rent out gates (for example 4 of the 5 you get given at the beginning) in order to make some money at the side.

And also, what is a good strategy for starting out - my airline serves German and Austrian domestic destinations (Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Berlin-Scho, Frankfurt-Hahn) with an A319-1, I'm raking in about 130,000 each day (I think) however this covers only about half of my expenses... If I hadn't returned 4 of the 5 gates I had originally at my Hamburg hub, would it have been possible to have rented them out, and if so, would that have covered the rest of my expenses?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It is not currently possible to rent gates to other airlines. That feature is planned for later this year, but not for AE Classic (SIM3).

Starting in late game in SIM3 is relatively difficult. In sim2 beta you can lease aircraft, which makes the initial expansion much easier.

Anyway, try flying to bigger airports like FRA, AMS, MUC, BRU, DUS, MXP, etc, where the ticket prices don't drop as quickly as you add frequency. It's much harder to make money flying routes between two small cities, where you can only have 1-2 daily flights before the price plummets.

If you only have 1 aircraft, flying each route 1x daily generally maximizes your profits.

What's your biggest monthly expense?

Didn't Skybus start by flying its routes 1x daily because it had like 3 planes? That didn't become another S :P
