2. How about we scale back one-ways??? Ill leave it at that for now :)

I agree, one-ways are whats killing the game on many fronts, Some aircraft you can acheive so many one way routes that in real life it is impossible to match, having just spend a few hours looking into profitable one way legs, I managed to obtain with my A333 some DOP numbers that any real world airline would kill for.

In past rounds, one way used to be around 1/2 the revenue, so what happened :puzzled: Why is it such a vast difference :puzzled:

One-ways still produce half the revenue if there is enough demand for a roundtrip. If there is not enough demand for a roundtrip (2x number of seats), a one-way becomes more profitable because there are half the seats available so the ticket price goes up.

I see your point about having insane profits with one-ways - this will be taken into consideration when I design the new lf script.

I remember when I thought was doing well with 5M DOP by year 3 :)

Those routes ding dong is on will crash soon to almost nothing anyway I would not worry too much about it (all those types of routes need is a well placed a333 or 757 at max freq to bring them down to $20 fares). Having said that it's an open game and people are free at the moment to put their complete fleet on one route if they want to

Thats pure evil! :shappy: :) !!!

I would like to konw how thats done... i find using 757/a333 are expensive to run :S

One thing I feel may slow down the rampant expansion we've seen (apart from starting off with lower cash levels and smaller airports) would be to limit the out-and-out 'open skies' that the game allows at the moment. i.e. You should choose the country or region you want to operate from and then if you want to expand to launching a new hub or new destinations from an airport in another country, then you must 'apply' (i.e. pay a fee) to do so. The result being, airlines will still be able to expand overseas, just not at the rampant rate that they are currently doing. Obviously every idea has its pitfalls, but I don't think its a bad solution by any standards.

I agree with that, but right now you have to wait 18 mos to build a hub in other regions. And I am sure that people would sae the money very quick to build overseas eithr way. But the system does need t be changed. when new rounds start we shoud get smaller aircraft say the beech, or the newly added cessna. that wa we cant get all that much from our first routes, and we have to wait that first month to get new larger aircraft. it will make the growth rate lower but also make it a little more fair to new players, and all payers. The top 25 some of them are over 2 bil in worth and have a few hundred aircraft. thats crazy. yall have a good day. :airplane

It wont make any difference. The way the game is coded at the moment you only delay the inevitable for an extra few days until people can afford larger planes but Maestor69 already explained that.

Please read all the comments before posting!

As for the Cessna, waste of time. It wont make you any money and that is the idea of this game, or maybe I have got it wrong the last few years.

The economy in sim2 (and AE in general) promotes exponential growth for a long, long time into the game. Once you get to a certain level, you have more cash than you can ever spend (other than ordering thousands of aircraft at a time) and therefore become virtually invincible. This is something that needs to be addressed (I do not have many specific ideas at the moment) because in real life, big airlines are still vulnerable to bankruptcy if mismanaged, as we have seen in the past 20-30 years. :)

I think its because the economy is isolated and not subjected to change and consumer preference... like in real life, a recession would have severe consequences on the airline industry... as well as rise in gas prices/war and etc... but in AE there are no outside factors and demand seems to be static
