Hmmm, where have I heard this argument before ;)

Totally agree with you but it's been chewed over many times and is still work in progress at the moment. Until the smaller cities make money the game is not really playable.

And there needs to be a new ranking system so more people can set different goals. Having a ranking system per region and/or type of airline will make things much more competitive.

As it stands now and has been in the past (I can tell you from personal experience) is the people who get a good start , do nothing all day but play AE will get to the top of the rankings and stay there until the game resets, been there , done that!

I think there are some good points there. I think retain the current ranking system but also have a ranking system for each region. But how would that work. Would it be just airlines that started in that region, just airlines operating in that region, just the number of passengers that airlines carries or the profit that the airline makes in that region?

Well at the moment it is hard for newbie airlines to come midway though the game and reasonably build up. I think if the profit factor was increased that would make it more competitive as there are more opportunities out there.

I'm new to the game, and I can't get my head around how people are making millions in a week and expanding so quickly with so little profit... my dop is about $51k with two 1900D's. Is there a game guide or tips for newcomers so its more fun and we can get competitive?

That sounds about right...I just restarted my airline in sim2 and have similar profit. It's the cost of starting late, when ticket prices are already low due to saturation on most routes.

Here's the beginner's tutorial: http://www.airlineem...inners_Tutorial, that should get you started. :)

It would also mean the people are able to grow much faster at the beginning, which would defeat the purpose of helping people who start late.

I think the best solution is to make the small cities more profitable - that provides a LOT of opportunity for expansion, especially for smaller airlines, instead of everything trying to squeeze into the big airports. This would involve tuning the loadfactor script for small cities, and that will take a lot of time. But rest assured, profitability of small cities is very high on our priorities list. :)

Thank you,

I went through that, but its very basic, it doesn`t show how to properly make money. See, i bought a Q400 and now i`m making 100k of dop, but i`m at a -21 mil lifetime profit... wouldn`t that take forever to make it up... then how do i make big money.. thank you!

Lifetime profit does not mean anything. No one knows how it works :)

Just look at your cash levels, that's all that matters

Yeah..it's really bad on US domestic routes. It also seems disproportionate when you operate a hub. Major route saturation produces an adverse effect on fares yet shows no reflective action on load factor whereas in real life frequency denotes revenue profits from load factor.

In other words the higher the frequency of flights, more business is generated on high density flights; such as ORD to MSP or ORD to DTW. For the number of airlines operating once daily round trip service versus airlines operating five daily round trips the profit margin in uneven.

I think that last round there was a much realistic feel to the fare structures, that and that the lat round of tweaking was a bit too much...

I dunno just an opinion...

Still you guys have a great game and I love playing!

I have to say I am actually pleasently suprised at how well I have been able to do even though i joined pretty late in the round (maybe my previous experiences have helped me... :)). Although profits are definately down, it seems much more realistic now on certain routes. For example, you cannot charge people $1500 for a flight from DFW to ATL with a 737-900 running 4 frequencies.

However, I will just echo again the problems with smaller airports. Just an example, when you fly a route from a major airport to a smaller airport with no competition and only charge $25 a ticket with a B1900D and still lose money.... i dunno...
