Do you think UA would/could ever start IAD-ATH, to replace CO's EWR service? THat route would work so well for me and my family :sdrool:
SEA-IAD-ATH..... instead of SEA-IAD-FRA-ATH or SEA-FRA-ATH or SEA-CPH-ATH.... etc.
Do you think UA could ever start IAD-ATH

I'm not sure about the immediate future, with all the cost-cutting and reductions going on. And I'm also not sure if there would be consistent O&D traffic from IAD to ATH. Certainly, with the current amount of destinations United serve into Europe from IAD (LHR, FRA, CDG to name a few), there are more than enough flights on European carriers including fellow Star Alliance carriers to provide the limited trffic there is on IAD-ATH.
So, in the not-too-distant future, no. But maybe in the long run it could happen.

I see. Maybe they might replace it as CO dropped their EWR - ATH route...

Well...
almost 2 years later and no IAD-ATH. However Olympic Air, the new Greek flag carrier, may be looking into starting US routes (i believe they have a 319LR).
