Have just bought a 707 and tried to put in on either BHX - JFK or CPH - JFK. Both routes have other airlines on them and I priced around the same of just slightly lower. Each time it gave me a LF of 0% and a massive loss on the route. Is this a problem or should I just stay away from the longer haul!

Did those airlines have hubs on either end of the route? If so, that is how they made them work. JFK is not as strong of a city as in real life in the sim because of how pax numbers are calculated, so those sound like thin routes to begin with, and very poor routes if there is competition. I would stay away from long haul, and jets in general without a strong hub.
