I've spent the last several weeks updating the aircraft database to include the oldies, but goodies. Welcome to Airline Empires 1946.

It's September 2, 1946, and the war's over. Let's see how well the AE community can navigate through the turbulent history of aviation.

Some changes:
  • It's 1946! No more Boeing vs Airbus. It's back to Boeing vs. Douglas. In fact, there aren't even any jet aircraft to be had, yet. But wait, because new aircraft are being introduced all the time! Granted, I haven't been able to add every aircraft in history, but the major players are all there.
  • Start with 2 DC-3's.
  • The economy has been adjusted to 1946 rates, and will automatically increase yearly to 2007.
  • No inflation. Everything is in 2007 dollars.
  • Airport discrepencies. Ok, so I know JFK, IAD, and DFW weren't around in 1946, but I'll see if I can add that functionality later.
  • Gate bug. I believe I've fixed the gate bug where gates went to negative numbers at some airports, and some airlines had thousands of gates.

I've no idea how long we'll let this game go. It probably won't be able to go until 2007, and we may have to do a reset later on in the 1950's, or '60s. Regardless, get ready for the jet-age!

Wow, nice idea, sounds good!!! Sadly enough I'm not able to play this round. No time. So there is a change again for other players to rule FRA en EWR :saint:. Good luck!

Should be interesting. I wonder if anyone will have a chance to purchase the DC-4 before it goes out of production?

so how exactly will the timing work in this round? Great idea on diff aircraft at diff times but 50 somethin year for a T7? thats 5 normal rounds. maybe since we are all on the same level we will be able to play longer rounds. I know before I was ready for a reset around year 8.

<BR>
im so happy to see a new chapter in AE.
good going miller
