The A340-600 is designed to carry less people and fly further, although physically its size is bigger than the A333

Not so, the A340-600 does carry more passengers than the A330-300.
The A330-300 seats a maximum of 335 passengers in a typical two-class cabin layout, or 295 passengers when configured for three classes, whereas the passenger capacity of the A340-600 in a typical three-class configuration is 380 seats, while a two-class layout is also available that accommodates up to 419 passengers.
