When you order a new plane, let's say A320-200, there are 5 engine options,

I always choose the one with the lowest "average fuel flow" number and never take into account the thrust,  but now I don't know if that's the smartest thing.

How do you all choose the "right" engine?  Sorry if someone already posted about this before. Thanks!

pretty much the only factor of interest simulated on this website is fuel flow, performance and stuff isn't really important

There are only really two incentives:

1. Average fuel flow (like you mentioned), and

2. Roleplay.

Otherwise, it doesn't really matter that much.

Normally only reason for a higher fuel flow is if you are trying to fly from an airport with a shorter runway.

Example: 737-900ER at DCA

Normally i'd choose the one with the longest range yet sometimes i'd check the needed runway length if its necessary..

The best strategy is to look for lowest fuel flow and highest range, these almost always point to the same engine. In the early game it is fine to just choose the cheapest engine available.
