Group 4 | Speedline Logistics | IATA: SL | ICAO: SLL | CALLSIGN - SpeedJet | HQ - Memphis (MEM)

Memphis - May 2006, is the foundation month of Speedline Logistics, headquartered in Memphis (MEM), operating international long haul cargo services mainly in the express cargo sector. Major customers are two of the three big freight integrators, as well as the newcomer to the market offering prime services to it's customers. Speedline flies scheduled services, transpacific to Asia as well as to South America, Europe and even further to the Middle East. Also routes not starting or ending in the US are served, where Speedline flies to Australia and New Zealand via Singapore and Hong Kong as well as to South Africa via the Middle East. The fleet consists of 12 Boeing 747F, which were originally manufactured by Boeing and are non converted full freighters. The airline is thinking about adding more 747 to it's fleet, though it will try to buy 747-8F to start the modernization of the fleet with the same range and capacity requirements but also to add more capacity and flights. For the future, Speedline is considering Boeing 777F as well as the 777-300ERSF, which would be the first converted aircraft and later on the new 777X-F, as this is the future of the cargo aircraft long haul market, offering the best range and capacity at once. The aim of Speedline is to operate 30 planes by 2026, earlier as normally planned, as the E-Commerce market is growing fast and due to the Pandemic freight rates are at an all time hight, which will continue for the next years until the supply chain becomes normal again.

Group 2 | Iluna | IATA: IL | ICAO: ILU | Callsign: ILUNA | HQ - Honolulu, HI (HNL)

L7ieIRI.png

Iluna Aviation Inc., operating as Iluna, is an American low-cost carrier (LCC) based at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii. Its origins trace back to 2005 when Lion Coffee founder James Delano proposed a new carrier under the name FlyHawaii Airlines, which would have operated low-fare inter-island services within Hawaii but shut down before it could commence operations. After a new group of investors led by former Sun Country Airlines CEO Zarir Erani acquired FlyHawaii's air operator's certificate (AOC) in 2019, the succeeding company known as Iluna would be born. The name "Iluna" is derived from the Hawaiian words i luna meaning "upward", and the airline's logo is a nene, which is Hawaii's state bird.

Iluna originally planned to commence operations in the second quarter of 2020, but the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic forced the airline to delay its debut until September 13, 2021, when its first flight from Honolulu to Kahului was launched; its maiden flight was operated by an ex-Air New Zealand ATR 72-500. The airline also seeks a future expansion of its operations to the western continental U.S. in mid-2022 to 2023. Flights to the U.S. mainland would be operated with extended-range Airbus A321LR aircraft, while inter-island flights would be flown by lower-range Airbus A320 and ATR 72 aircraft.

Current fleet as of October 2021: 2x ATR 72 (both ex-Air NZ aircraft; former regs ZK-MCJ and ZK-MCU)

Columbian is a Canadian full-service carrier based at Vancouver International Airport, British Columbia. Initially founded in 1922 as the Victoria Island Air Service, it has since grown to be one of Canada's largest airlines.

For the first 25 years of the airline's history, it operated short hops across the Strait of Georgia from various airports on Victoria Island to Vancouver. In 1947, the airline received a large investment from a metal ore mining company based in Vancouver. The airline was then contracted to ferry workers from cities in Canada to their work at various mines around the country. The airline saw large economic growth in the 50`s and expanded to regional services in and around Canada. Columbian's success came from its reliability; in 1971, only 0.3% of its flights were more than 20 minutes late. Eventually in the 1980s the airline rapidly expanded, opening its first hubs west of the Rockies in 1982. The airline famously does not operate hubs out of Toronto-Pearson or Montreal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau, as Columbian was being "ripped off" by the airport authorities in these airports, as to favour Air Canada. Columbian then became the first Canadian airline to fly the 737NG in 1998, an aircraft that proved very popular with passengers. Due to the 2019-21 global coronavirus pandemic, Columbian had to be bailed out by the Canadian government, as, on May 23rd, 2020, the airline was on the verge of bankruptcy. Luckily for the airline, its financial troubles seem to be rebounding, as the travel industry begins to reopen.

On September 13, 2022, Columbian will celebrate its centenary. On the day, the airline will host the "Columbian Airshow" a large event in which many aircraft that Columbian has operated over the years will conduct a flyover of downtown Vancouver. In preparation for this event, the airline has returned 5 of its 747-400 aircraft from retirement and painted them in commemorative liveries. With the travel industry unravelling, the possible purchase of Air Transat, and new aircraft coming in, the future looks bright for Canada's longest-operating airline.

Group 3 | Atlantique Nord | IATA: SP | ICAO: SPM | CALLSIGN: Explorer | HQ: Saint-Pierre (LFVP/FSP)

Atlantique Nord is a French full-service carrier based in the self-governing overseas collectivity of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon (Collectivité Territoriale de Saint-Pierre et Miquelon). The carrier aims to provide essential air transport services to the isolated archipelago, which due to its small population and location in close proximity to the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, receives no other scheduled airline service to Canada or to metropolitan France.

The airline is heavily subsidized by the governments of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, French flag carrier Mondiale as well as the French government. The carrier maintains a fleet of two ATR 42-600 series turboprops, a single De Havilland Canada DHC-6-400 Twin Otter, and its single flagship, an Airbus Industrie A319-111, in an extremely premium-heavy configuration, which provides year-round transatlantic services to Paris/Charles de Gaulle as well as offering extra seasonal capacity on services to Montreal and Toronto, which are otherwise flown by ATRs. Thanks to the airline's expansive route map in the Canadian Eastern Seaboard as well as its link to metropolitan France, the airline is an interesting option for adventurous travelers looking to fly from Europe to Canada with a day's layover in the gem of the Northern Atlantic.

At the 2019 Paris Air Show, Atlantique Nord announced an order for a single Airbus A220-300 to replace the ageing A319 in its fleet. While the carrier had originally planned to take delivery of the jet in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the airline was forced to defer the order. The aircraft has now been scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2022.

Pictured below is Atlantique Nord's flagship A319-111, F-OANT, and her seatmap taken from the Atlantique Nord website. Configured in an 8C 12J 106Y three-class layout designed for transatlantic crossings, F-OANT is often the smallest and lightest aircraft crossing the Atlantic.

StatesExpress was founded in 2009, with the idea of serving smaller cities with aircraft no larger than 50 seats, while maintaining connections through hubs. In short, SE is a regional airline that flies to many smaller airports with Embraer ERJ and Pilatus PC-12 aircraft. It has hubs in San Antonio, Texas, Mesa, Arizona, Jacksonville, Florida, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and New Orleans, Louisiana, although the route network has many flights that do not fly to or from any of the aforementioned cities. Currently, the airline operates around 500 aircraft, with orders for 80 Heart Aerospace ES-19 aircraft, and 40 Pilatus PC-12NGX aircraft. SE has also reportedly shown interest in the upcoming Beechcraft Denali.

Group 1 | Celebrity Airlines

IATA: CY | IACO: CYA

Callsign: CELEBIRTY | Home Airport: Los Angeles LAX

Celebrity Airlines is relatively new full service carrier in the United States. Founded in 1999, the airline connects numerous destinations on six continents to it's hub in Los Angeles. They aim to be an ultra-premium airline to target the celebrities that live in Los Angeles. This is despite the fact that their livery looks like something found on a low-cost airline. (Though the airline likes to consider it swanky and trendy.) Celebrity Airlines flies a mix of A320 and A321 CEOs and NEOs along with A330-300s, 787-8 and -9s, and A350-900 and A350-1000. The A320 family is used on short-haul routes, while the 787s and A330s are used on transcontinental routes and long-haul routes. The A350s are used solely on long-haul high-capacity routes. While it managed to survive the early 2000s relatively fine, Covid-19 has caused the airline's future to hang in balance with its ultra-premium configurations on its aircraft. In addition, the airline is a relatively widebody-heavy carrier. Some people say that Celebrity Airlines would never recover from this crisis.
