Why is the A330-300 so much more than the A340-300?

I don’t think so, they are basically the same plane with a 75 million price difference.

Because the A330-300 is actually an A340-300 and the extra cost is for the engineers to remove the 2 engines and add the new ones :)

Difference would be that the a340 is underpowered (powered by 4 hair dryers under the wings) and the a330 has proper engines for its power to weight ratio.
