It's a little annoying when a competing airline lowers his price even when he has 100% load factor for some reason. He can't carry more so why lower the price?  Does that keep some pax from using my price and my seat? Does offering a lower price for a non-existent seat affect the overall?

Had Air Hanoi in R6 and it went bust thanks to a bitter price war with a rival airline called Astra :/

Did it go bust because you kept lowering price on non-existent seats? You wil make no extra revenue just lowering prices but not having seats.

It was primarily because Astra made the prices so low that I make less revenue per month despite the seats being the same and the expenses rising.

Oh, yeah. That's the process, I guess. I understand the AI is programmed to prevent players from making the rankings.

The price wars are so bad in R1 some long haul routes are no longer profitable.

Right...and some countries with large pax markets like India and Vietnam are cutthroat to this extent in both short- and long-haul routes.

Well,

When your competitors reaching price levels, which are so low that these are generating demand themselves you can set the ticket price tremously higher.

Well,

I´m playing ModiLuft in R1 and while modernising my widebody fleet i´ve noticed that my planes making only barely making profit on the DEL-LHR Route with prices of only 400$ in the economy class.

I began then highering the prices step by step and ended at nearly 800$ for a economy class ticket, a load factor of 100% without connection bonus and a nice daily profit.

The cause for that propably relies in the fact that 400$ is a price that is so low on this route, that it generated itself demand in addition to the weekly demand.

That´s why sometimes looking at routes with heavy competition and very low fares may worth it.
