I'm not new but because I usually lease i rarely ever buy a aircraft, therefore I would like to know the benefit of scraping a plane. I can imagine scraping a plane actually lowers maintenance cost as more parts for that aircraft are out there but I want to make sure thats true before I go scraping older planes

I'm not sure but I think just occasionally aircraft are worth more in parts then in one so you have that option

I've seen in a few instances where the game wont let you sell your original starting aircraft, even after you've paid out the lease & bought it. It's probably a glitch, because in other instances you can. but when that happens, scrapping it is the only way to get rid of it. Otherwise I rarely use it.

Leasing a plane is nearly always more expensive than outright buying it. Leasing planes is good for when you start because the cost of having it within your fleet is minimal compared to actually buying it outright, especially with Widebodies that cost 200+ mil. I've personally never scrapped a plane. I try and keep my fleet as young as possible after having reached market saturation, and renewing it with either the same model or upgrading (if available) - say A330 with A350, 777 with 787 etc. But I've never scrapped an aircraft because selling it always makes more financial sense.

The only benefit I of scraping an aircraft that I see is that your competition won't be able to use it to make money.

True, the scrap Price has never offered me a better option in the past years. The only advantage is, especially when you are a big airline, that the plane is no subject to the ever-growing Monster Airlines

True, the scrap Price has never offered me a better option in the past six years. The only advantage is, especially when you are a big airline, that the plane is no subject to the ever-growing Monster Airlines
