Are there any aircraft that you think should be used more or don't understand why people use them? The Antonov 148 seems like a good aircraft but I never tried it yet.

the Boeing 717 is a very underrated plane, because so few of them were sold to airlines and subsequently is only operated by a few airlines.

 

It didn't deserve to become the failure it was because it's a really good plane and I think a return to form for the DC-9 family that pre-covid travel demands made a plane like that nearly invaluable before the A220 now granted in a lot of ways the 717 was a plane from the 60s but so is the 737 and the 737 has been such a ubiquitous plane and despite the massive flaws in the way Boeing rushed the max will likely continue to be ubiquitous until at least the 737NGs are gone, and the maxes once they're flying again likely will be the send off for the family that I feel strongly a 717 that was made to be more efficient via an improved wing and possible winglets and maybe trying to figure out a more efficient engine option could've been a great option for airlines looking for the 100-150 seat market but want something that's more efficient on certain routes than a 737-700 could be, and the 737-600 was also a bit of a flawed alternative and why it was even less popular because again the newer 737s are more tailored towards longer routes than what the 717 is really best for and the 717 was intended as a replacement for DC-9 operators where the 737 couldn't compete with that since it wasn't related to that.

I'm going to go a little more obscure.

The Vangard is a fantastic size plane that has efficiency that is hard to beat and the speed disadvantage really isn't that bad considering plus it's in production a pretty long time. Plus prop maintenance is cheap.

 

The Mecure although being short on range moves a good number of folks for the fuel. Plus the maintenance costs are stellar (less than a 737-200 ADV)

 

The Trident Super 3B is underrated as heck, it's speed and efficiency is a killer that makes it actually make more money on many routes I've found than a MD80 or 727-200ADV. And cheaper maintenance than the 727-200ADV.

Yeah, It can also work as a 757 replacement, The 737-700ER is also viable.

Avro RJs seem underrated in game. Using them as a DC-9-10/20 replacement and found them to be far more profitable.

As pointed out above, An-148, Avro RJ's, A321-100, L-100.

 

I would add the BAC 1-11-200/300/400, as it gets over shadowed by the -475 even though it is available much earlier. the YS-11 is also overshadowed despite being a perfect CV-340/440 replacement and carries more people then the F-27 on a further distance. Some of the Caravelle's are ignored sadly and the Xian MA600 also deserve some respect.

Definitely the Tu-204/214!!! Really cheap aircraft competing very well with the A320-Family and 737-Family. IMO the best medium haul aircraft in the 160-210 seat market
