Hi all,

I hope you're all safe and well.

I have a question about the number of weekly passengers and the numebr of seats on a particular route.

If say there are 875 weekly passengers, how is it possible some airlines are flooding the route with 9000+ seats per week and still able to charge over 2000 per seat in economy? It appears to me that if I put too many seats on a route I have to lower the price in order to try and fill the seats as I have seen other airlines doing. However I've seen one particular airline that is able to keep prices in the 2000 range for many routes and flood the market at the same time? I'm not sure how this works.

Any help/advice appreciated!

First off, spamliners create highly efficient seat configurations that stuff as many people onto a plane as possible. This allows them to create very large capacities on routes. With enough frequency, they can flood the market. It depends on the airline but most tend to have hubs at larger airports which still allows them to profit off of spam demand and obtain a large amount of connecting passengers (the light blue bar) when they open a route which is not as dependent on the price as “green” passengers. Hope this helps!

AE is the best.

Ahh, you've met one of those so called "spamliners"

They simply exploit an unfixed bug with connecting pax.

As long as I know, they create their own alliances and open hubs at every airport they fly to, multiplying the game-generated blue pax. I know more or less how it works, but I don't know how they build up their airline in order not to lose money at the beginning

They may be a bit annoying if you value realism but most of the time they don't pose an actual threat to your airline because they mostly make their profits out of their own blue passengers

Competing against these large spamliners are sometimes difficult, though, as they would still take up all the green passengers and make it difficult for you to get your share.

It's already happening in R-Delta in Vietnam, where my airline is already struggling against a spam competitor on various domestic and international routes :/

I'm said Spamliner. Since I'm in S1, it's single hub so it's actually a long-term achievement to get enough blue pax out of a single hub and a single airline. I'm in a generic alliance and not feeding off a second airline of my own.

The single fortress hub meta has existed since I first played AE in 2005. Develop the single hub and the connecting pax to escape junk yields. Devine can theoretically do this at STN and print money.

One hub/terminal. Other airports don't matter, therefore I did make a concious choice to leave people alone once they left LHR.
