General rule is largest passenger capacity, followed by low lease costs.

The VC.1 Viking if you ask me:

 

- Most Seats

- Good Range

- Short Runway

- Lowest Fuel Flow

- Fastest (by far)

- Almost the same price

 

- The DC3 has low cost, short turn time & short runway too but since the aircraft goes out of fashion quite quickly you won't be able to build up a decent fleet making maintainence costs a larger factor. Also if you are flying in a rural area it's shorter range can make it hard to fill (but this could also work in your favour as it would be easier to replace by aircraft like the Aerospatiale Nord N262
