I tried to look this up in the wiki, but all I got was a blank page. I'm pretty new to the game, so I might have missed something. But in both of the worlds I've joined so far, S3A and R5, I get a message saying "To open a hub, the city must be in your home country." And yet, in both worlds, there are a number of airlines with hubs not just in other countries, but on other continents as well. And I know for a fact that I am not the only one seeing that message as a friend of mine confirmed that he saw it too. So, what's going on? I don't think it depends on where you're based, as even though my friend also saw it, he was still able to open a hub abroad. If this is a rule, surely there should be something programmed into the game to prevent that?

The rule is generally correct.

Hi, welcome to the game.

Can you give me some more specific information? What is your home country? Which other countries do people appear to be building hubs in?

There are some exemptions & a few almost-secret tricks. For example, European countries can have hubs in other EU countries. Australian & New Zealand-based airlines can have terminals/hubs in each country. American-based airlines can have terminals/hubs in external US territories including Guam (very usefully within reach of Asia) or Puerto Rico. France & the UK have a few external territories too.

Ok, so the EU in that sense counts as one country? In that case it clears up most of them, though I do think it could've been better worded. Home country, to me, sounds like if I'm based in France I can only open hubs in France, if I'm based in New Zealand I can only open hubs in New Zealand, etc. etc.

And the external territories clears up the rest.
