Why don't more people buy Concordes? I have managed to make all but one of my 53 Concordes profitable (averaging $1m-$2m/month) on my Airline in R4 (http://ae31.airline-...e3r4&player=276). although I do admnit I am using a profitable IFS, they are still completely viable; and fun in the roleplay sense. I operate all my Concordes from URC (Urumqi), only putting 1 aircraft/route (unless domestic and sufficient demand for 2), even flying at their max range - Where IFS is less profitable due to lower frequencies - they make atleast $175K/day. This is ofcourse without competition. However, due to not equaiting my seats to demand and having higher rep due to increased frequences Concordes provide, I still fill them up on most competitive routes, despite having default prices. The one Concorde I have that doesn't make a monthly profit is flying URC-DXB, and is making $111k/day. It loses about $900K monthly. However this is because the route is highly contested. My second lowest profitiing Concorde is making $135K/day, or $200K/month. I figured that if you want to break even with a Concorde, you have to make around $134K a day; which is definitely not hard. With this, I don't see why people dont add Concordes (or atleast in vast quantities) to their fleets, as they can still make a bit (yes, admittedly less than usual) of profit from them. That little bit of profit is of course better than none.

I've also experimented with using Concordes as a separate Bis/First class servicer, fitting only Eco to other planes and filling the demand on routes with flights from both. Ive found that this configuration makes slighly more money than My 3 class ones. Might be a fun application for it; considering faster travel times as part of the premium of a premium seat. Cool concept in my opinion.

The only reason I don’t buy them in the mass is because it just isn’t realistic. I like to play my airlines realistically. And since BA and AF only had a few themselves, I think having 50+ would be completely unrealistic. This doesn’t mean that I won’t buy the aircraft, I might buy Up to 10 but no more than that.

The problem with the concorde is that the game system does not factor in the increase in price that ppl (irl) are willing to pay in order to get to their destination quicker. What ends up happening is that you would be fighting spamlines with a plane that has a higher running cost with lower amount of seats. And we all know that you end up loosing a lot of money this way...

The pricing issue would be addressed by making it fully either first or business class, or a combination of the two. There was never an economy class in the real life Concordes!

I always put my 100 business class seats, and they do just fine on trans Atlantic routes.

It cost BA and AF just $1 to get a Concorde due to subsidies from their governments. And they were losing money operating.
Btw $1M a month is rubbish when I can make $6M a month with just a 737-400. Not worth the extra time and effort trying to maintain the Concordes

Yes, but you can get both. since delivery takes time, you can only get a number of 737s per say month and therefore the profit increase from them are restricted by this. I'm not saying to use it as a replacement for such aircraft, but rather an addition. That 3 million per month is 3 million more than if you just used 737s. Concorde's base maintainence costs $17.5m, so just ~12 Concordes will cover that for you.

BA and AF were losing money - I think -  because of competitive pricing (before the upscaled prices). however, as I said, I use then on only lightly contested or monopoly routes. Also, since AE doesnt take sonic booms into account, theres a lot more such routes in AE where it can turn a profit.

@Jarkii you explained it in your first paragraph.  Concordes are not very profitable - you say yours make $1-2 a month.  Operating 777-300ERs and 747-400s, my airline makes >$1m DAILY per aircraft.  Concordes have high costs and low density.

OK well now the fuel flow was just increased by 50% so this post is useless

Aircraft data is being reviewed frequently and therefore updated, it may seem strange however it is quite normal when new and more accurate data is available.

I would say that it’s less accurate. Concorde burned a lot of gas, but this is like it’s in full afterburner for the whole flight.

Concordes made money. It shouldn’t be so hard to do that.

AE do not simulate that people would pay extra for speed, also the figures is based on average cruise fuel flow to be fair.
with take-off thrust the number would have been above 200,000ff.

Just know I'm not complaining - I'm a sucker for realism - It'l just slightly affect my playstyle; which is probably for the better because realism.

Speaking of this, will the 777-300ER be reviewed soon? Considering all engine options for the 773 and 77W, they have the same range, making the 'ER' seem useless. If there is a real-world reason for this - could you explain it please?

I'm also curious to know where you source your FF values... or are they calculated?

The database are beeing reviewed from time to time by the great team of Data collectors that ensure we have the most up to date data.
Regarding your questions the 777`s are also updated from time to time.

Fuel flow values are gathered by official engine manufacturer documents.

Higher fuel burn, lower seating, and higher maintenance. Better to run a 777
