From AE Arabic Design Contest 2018 & 2019

Presenting

AE Arabic Design: LCC Special Edition!

Last summer's AE Arabic Design Contest brought some of the highest quality work I have seen yet. I started the contest to encourage the creation of quality Arabic designs on AE, and I am proud to see the level of improvement over the past two editions. I could not wait wait a whole year for the next edition, so we will have a special spin-off edition leading up to the Arabic Design Contest 2020!

You've guessed it, this special edition is for Arab Low Cost Carrier (LCC) designs only!

In the previous Arabic Design Contest installments, we saw a number of high quality LCC designs that each presented fabulous creativity and excellent design quality. I would refer to these fantastic designs for inspiration. I also suggest you review all the feedback and tips from previous installments.

Submit a brand portfolio for an original LCC based somewhere in the Arab World* by December 14th. Please carefully read the rules, guidelines, and point categories for more information.

Ok this is hilarious - the self-described 'little boy from New Hampshire' with no uploads and 20 posts replying 'lol no' to an Arabic LCC contest proposal by the resident Arab-world-based airline expert. Truly fantastic, a real pinnacle of comedy.

Fly Mubarak | Abu Dhabi | AUH

msg-21998-0-11217400-1574005316.png

ABOUT THE AIRLINE

Fly Mubarak is a relatively small airline offering affordable flights from its headquarter in Abu Dhabi International Airport, to destinations mainly in the middle east countries. Founded in 1997 by Saeed bin Rashid Al Akhdar, the airline experienced a considerably rapid growth in the last decade, pushed by the economic plan diversification launched by the government.

Operating two dozens of Airbus A320s, Fly Mubarak has expanded to cover more destinations, including to parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. With more and more people outside the oil and gas business flying from and to Abu Dhabi, the airline is looking at the future with a bright miswaked smile.

"Abu Dhabi is not as shiny as Dubai, but there's something about this place that makes people want to come and come again.

It's the Arabic Hotel California."

-Saeed bin Rashid Al Akhdar-

Marhaba | Bahrain - Manama | BAH

MnvD3JT.png

About Marhaba

Marhaba is a low-cost carrier based in Manama, Bahrain, founded in 2018 and operating exclusively A321neo aircraft (such as A9C-ORN, shown below) to destinations as near as Dubai Al Maktoum and as far as as London Stansted and Paris Orly. As far as a variety of European, Middle Eastern, and North African destinations, Marhaba also focuses on flights to India. In 2019, the carrier took delivery of the first out of a large order for the A321neoLR, with the first of these planes used to begin flights to Phuket. The ability to reach Southeast Asian (as well as South African) beach destinations helped the A321neoLR expand Marhaba's network significantly to cities that the standard-range A321neo couldn't make it to. Marhaba is also now in the process of placing an order for the A321neoXLR in order to operate flights to Indonesia, Korea, and Japan, among other destinations.

According to the airline's founder, Nader bin Zahid Karimi, his goal is to make passengers not feel like they are flying with a budget airline, and for this reason the configuration chosen for both the standard-range A320neos and the A321neoLRs is not a maximum capacity one. Featuring 12 Business Class seats at 40" pitch and 202 Economy class seats at 31" pitch, with 30 of them (the first two rows of Economy at 33" pitch plus all three exit rows) classed as 'Economy Plus'. A SpaceFlex v2 galley and lavatory layout allows a maximization of floorspace usage.

Dearest AErs,

Due to my extreme business in the last few weeks, the deadline (which had already passed) has been pushed to December. Considering the lack of entries so far, I hope that there will be a few more by then or I am afraid the spin off contest will be canceled (and the entries so far will have to wait till the mainline contest returns in the summer).

- To address this simply: I am not qualified or experienced enough to judge non-Arab designs. As a native Arabian, I can effectively run these contests based on my knowledge of the language, culture ... etc. Everyone is free to host contests in their own area of expertise.

Thanks!

Hello! I feel bad that this contest was never judged. So, I've decided all the entries here are now included in the main Arabic Design 2020 Contest by default. They won't count towards the 3 airline cap.

If you would like to edit or change the submission, just repost the redone version on the main thread by the deadline. Otherwise I'll just be looking at what's already been posted here.

If you would like to withdraw completely, just let me know.
