What if the AE team made consistent updates but it costs like five dollars so they can make money. There is a few year long gap between big updates, if this game was five dollars maybe they would get things done because they might get paid more. I think if we can get most of the community to pay the game would be saved and updates would be common practice.

I think the reason people play AE is because it is free

I feel like the suggestion is great, but it's not even in development anymore, so I don't think it's necessary at this point.

I feel like an optional donation would be better. Also

Also they are earning money through ad banners.

I do not know why this game is no longer in development, it only need updates in certain aspects but ,as a base for a new version, it have a lot of potential.

I'm currently (every once in a while) working on a document depicting how AE could become, if everyone who is willing to would spend like a dollar a month to make constant updates possible.

Maybe one could separate the "Pay-Version" in something like "AE Premium"

They get money from ads too, and many people aren't in a spot to pay for a game like this

Yeah, but who pays for Youtube premium, its kinda the same thing

But I feel as though this has brought up and interesting question; development has stopped, thats unquestionable, some patches essential here and there but no new major updates, and the reason I came to play AE was that it was free and had an interesting community forum aspect. What if instead of a paid-"AE premium" there is like a kickstarter or a dev fund for development of AE 2, improving on what AE does well, Expanding the gallery and forum aspects, and reworking the slightly failed press release section, and overhauling the browser game to make it seem like its not a text-based game from 2002.

I'd be in with all I can give
