The old dev, Yuxi, was tragically killed in a car accident around that time.

I mean before he died a lot of the more mundane parts of managing the website were done via macro.

That is really tragic, but explains a lot why the game feels that "old" UI wise and in general, with tons of broken links and functionality like "install winglets" which only works if you manually change the url. Does anyone still has access to the code than or is it rather just running as it is now "forever"?

Yuxi Is the Head Dev so he has the code and if he doesn't Miller22 Does since he is the creator of the game.
I know Yuxi has the code to because of the a321lr and some other stuff

Well adding a new plane doesn't nessecarily requier code access, but rather db access. :-)
But would be cool to hear from some devs here, coz the entire game looks super outdated from UI, broken links and mechanics.

AE has a team of data collectors which add and remove aircraft from the database. However, it's a drop in the bucket to figure out which ones are still active.
