Hi all--I am just completing my first round of this game. The world was set to run from 1990-2010 at 5 min per day. I started in 1994. I quit doing any managing of my airline in about 2007-08.
I thought this game was interesting, but pretty repetitive. I got irritated with some other airlines who would simply add 747s on routes with 150 person demand and swamp them for no reason--I was very strategic and careful about everything I did from aircraft purchases to hub selection and route planning. I am guessing these are the "spamlines" referred to in the forums but haven't seen the term defined.
In general, I am wondering how anyone can continue to play this game. When I first started I was totally fascinated and tried to figure everything out. This combined with route planning and expanding my airline took massive amounts of personal time. Now that I've generally figured a lot of this out, I can't imagine playing this same game again--it could easily suck up 8 hours a day. After a while of playing I have zillions of dollars and the only thing to do with it is to buy more aircraft and fly to more and more places. And when I would order the aircraft they would just keep coming...more and more showing up in my inbox needing me to send them off, fix the fares, deal with the idle time, and review more and more existing routes to make sure the random airlines weren't swamping my route and cutting the fares to nothing.
I guess my question is, how do the veterans around here keep up and/or devote so much time to this thing?? Am I doing it wrong?
