Hi, can someone explain this?

I've read that if you buy a new aircraft family you get hit with a 5% of purchase price charge for a "maintenance base".  Is that correct?

Additionally, how are the monthly maintenance costs of the plane calculated now and as it ages?  I read something like 2%?

I am trying to decide what planes to buy.  I can buy less fuel efficient ones for far less money and can calculate the delta of that vs. cost over time based on other posts I've read.  The bogey I don't yet understand is the maintenance costs and how they factor in.

I appear to be paying roughly 4% a year in maintenance costs compared to the price of a new plane, with my all-new fleet.

Thanks for the help.

lmao you started 3 days ago and know more about the math then me. Stick to only 2-3 groups in the beggining then when you start to have extra money use as many as you would like, just have at least 5+ airplanes per group. if you dont know what to get see what the richest airlines are getting
