Hello and welcome to the first edition of the EuroViation - Airline Branding Contest!

The goal of this contest is for AE's community to showcase the best of their work in a pan-European competition. Each participant is allowed to post a submission for the country of their choice. The entries are to present one airline (preferably with some national vibe) via its logo, its livery, maybe even some of its branding content.

A jury panel will gather at the end of the submission period to grade entries on a fully transparent scale described below. And the fun part, the public too will vote for their favourite submission, so be sure to gather the crowds!

Now, here are some ground rules, some more might be added later if deemed necessary:

  1. Anyone can take part, with only one submission per player.
  2. Contestants must pick a country of they choice amongst the list.
  3. Submissions must be posted on this thread. Please deactivate you signature when posting on here, as to ease reading.
  4. That's a tricky one: ONLY ONE SUBMISSION PER COUNTRY will be allowed, on a first come basis. This might be a bit tough, though the idea here is to expand the spectrum of airlines we see beyond the classic ones we've all seen a thousand times.
  5. So called "reservations" are not allowed. Please post your submission once it is complete, though you may edit your post to add/change some minor things during the entire opening period. We're asking for some fairplay here, girls and boys.
  6. You can post your entries from today (August 1st) till the end of the month (August 31, 23.59 UTC+1). It's summertime in Europe, some of you may be on holiday, and some of you will be disappointed that their first choice of country won't be available. This long entry period is designed so that you'll have time to work on a plan B.
  7. Since a part of the final grading will be from the public, it is allowed to comment on designs with constructive comments, but please keep it nice and quiet, ie no endless debates and personal attacks. These might result in a banning from competing.
  8. Jury members are allowed to take part, but they won't grade their own submission.

And here are come guidelines regarding the submissions:

  1. The country list is the following, based on nations that have taken part at some point in the popular EuroVison Song Contest : Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom.
  2. A map of the countries taking part can be found here. Please note that Australia was not included as it recently was in the Southeast Asia and Oceania Design Competition. Also note that Andorra, Monaco and San Marino are also included in the list. Make your imagination work a bit.
  3. Please post at least a logo, a livery, a short description of the airline. You might include some other branding elements, a short story with some historical elements, or anything else you might see fit, just try to keep it not too long.
  4. For ease of use, please start your submission post with: Username, Country, Airline, Hub's IATA, IATA's airline code, ex: edge, Japan, Nippon Air, NRT, NP.
  5. Your airline has to be contemporary, ie it could be flying today.
  6. Your submission must be an original one, no re-use of something you have published before. No one will check, but please use some fairplay here.
  7. Airlines can be low-cost, full service, charter, anything really. But since this is a contest between countries, it must display some national identity, and not be a generic one (ex: easyjet, vueling do not convey a national identity). It can be a flag carrier or a regional one, that's up to you.

The airlines will be judged by a jury composed of Belgium.Namika, Oggey and myself, on the following points:

  1. Originality - a design that's as much your own as possible
  2. Realism & brand coherence - an airline that could possibly exist, a logo that's useable, a livery that matches
  3. Livery - attention to detail. Using med's templates is encouraged but not mandatory. To ease the jury's job, please post them full size.
  4. Fidelity - to the country it represents, use of the language if applicable
  5. The public vote, that will account for 20% of the final grade. It will take place at the end of the submission period.

Should you have any insightful question, please be sure that it isn't already answered on this post. If not, you can post it on here as it might help others.

Thanks to the members of the jury for their help setting this up.

And let your imagination run wild, let's hope the contest will bring the best of creativity.

Good luck to you all!

PUBLIC VOTE IS NOW OPEN HERE : https://goo.gl/forms/g0OHj9TvvH5ECfeJ3

The voting will close on Sunday 9th September, in one week, at 16.00 European Time, after which the results will be published.

Email login & username checking is required as to avoid fraud. No data will be kept.

Danske is the official flag carrier of Denmark, based in Copenhagen. Danske is just a shortening of the name with which it was founded, as Det Danske Statsejede Luftfartsselskab, founded in 1951. Danske originally provided domestic flights out of Copenhagen, but eventually became the premier international carrier out of Denmark and eventually received the Royal Warrant as a purveyor of the Royal Danish Court (Leverandør til Det Kongelige Danske Hof). Danske currently operates a mixed-fleet of Embraer and Airbus aircraft, including the E175, E190, A319, A320, A321, A330, and A350.
DK_Airbus_A330-300_Showcase.png

OY-GYX is a standard A330-300 in the newest livery, introduced in 2010 as part of a rebranding effort. OY-GYY is in the same configuration as OY-GYX, but has a modified pride flag and logo as part of support for Copenhagen Pride, which occurred on 18 August 2018. Both aircraft are configured with 32 Nordic Business seats, 27 Nordic Plus seats, and 219 Economy seats.

GL_Showcase.png
Danske also has a subsidiary, Grønlandske, which is equally owned by Danske and the governments of Greenland and Denmark. It uses a modified version of the Danske livery to emulate the Greenlandic flag, sharing maintenance and fleet commonalities with Danske.

LewJet / United Kingdom / greatBritish / LHR / GB

greatBritish is the UK's premier flag carrier. Operating with a long-haul fleet of 24 747-800s, for popular long-haul routes such as Heathrow to JFK, as well as 24 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners for our luxury holiday destinations. greatBritish offers package holidays as well as flights, consisting of five class options - economy, premium economy, business, second and first, ensuring that greatBritish can serve as many people as possible with every budget imaginable. Our regional fleet consists of 62 Bombardier Q400s, and our short-haul fleet consists of 86 Boeing 737-800s, with the business model focusing on simplicity and having as few types of aircraft as possible in order to keep production down.

Our livery's tail mimics the Union Jack flag, one of the most recognised flags in the world, with a gradient getting lighter near the top of the tail to represent clouds above the sky. The only red to appear on the greatBritish livery is in the word "great" to emphasise the pride we have in the company.

fly.scandian (fly-DOT-scandia) is Sweden's low-cost-airline operating in Stockholm, Sweden. Being operated by all A320neo fleet, the airline has destinations across Europe including United Kingdom, France, and also, Greece. fly.scandian has kept its mission to bring the passenger with afforable and comfortable service for over a decade of service across Sweden and Europe.

Design:

L53Zs88.png

The livery has a distinct of blue and yellow color application that showcase the country of Sweden proudly and the tail..... At first sight, it is mistaken as a yellow spotlight over blue background, but as you shift your viewing angle to the right, you'll recognize the notable Gold Nordic Cross but in a in-depth perspective. Also, imagine this plane taking-off, when it takes-off, the viewing angle shifts to the right position to clearly resemble the Gold Nordic Cross.

Anyways, have a nice day and good-luck to everyone!

Aurura Airways Iceland is a low-cost airline with a hub in Keflavik and operates 25 B737-8 Max's and 15 B787-8 Dreamliners. The B737 operates short-haul and medium-haul routes to Europe, North Africa and Scandinavia. The B787 operates medium-haul and long-haul routes to destinations such as Eastern North-America and Western North-America and selected routes in Asia. Our selling point is our exclusive one-night stopover in Iceland for as little as $30 one-way. Aurora Airways was created in 2014 with two leased B737-800s but were replaced in 2015 with 5 B787s.

fdttom.png

Our livery expresses the beauty of the iconic Aurora. Reflecting upon the Aurora, we have decided to paint the engines in a gradient green/turquoise colour, mimicking the beauty of the Aurora. The tail-pattern of gradient black lines expands from the tip of the tail right down to the tail-skid. The black is designed to show the jet-black Icelandic sky. The Aurora pattern on the tail that swerves downwards from the top of the tail and swoops across the fuselage, right over to the iconic Aurura bill-board logo. All of our aircraft are named after something iconic in Iceland suck as Reykjavík, the capital or Selfoss, a beautiful waterfall.

Thank you and good luck.

It is fine as long as what you present is original content that has otherwise never been published before, so a rebranding is all go.
