I have something that's a slightly different kind of aviation today.
Today, 12 April, marks 57 years since Yuri Gagarin exclaimed "Поехали!" and was catapulted into orbit and the history books as the first person in space, aboard the Vostok 1 mission. This also means today is the 37th anniversary of the first space shuttle mission STS-1, flown by astronauts Bob Crippen and John Young (the latter is my personal hero).
Since each of these events we've seen men standing on the Moon, people living and working in orbit around our little home, sports cars launched into deep space, and many more amazing things brought to us by the space program. Each of them just a step on the long road to realizing the dream of conquering the solar system and the stars!
