This city is not in the USA. It's name used to mean "a remote one"... but it has changed ownership 3 times in the last 150 years and is currently called something different now. Metro population is over 5 million, top 20 ports by volume worldwide.

This is Hong kong
Nope.
*last hint
The Imperial Russian Empire founded the city prior to 1900, but like Hong Kong, this area was previously host to a British naval base. Japan was ceded ownership in 1905 and maintained ownership until 1945 when it given to the Soviet Union. In 1950, the Soviet Union gave this city and the major port to its new ally, Communist China, for free. Communist China maintains control to this day.

hehe, a pilot, not yet, but I have this weird interest in cities. Truth is I've barely been outside the U.S, if you want to count Puerto Rico that is. I think AE did this to me. I'm was always looking at the map looking for destinations to open routes and I stumble upon places I've never heard of and eventually I get sidetracked from making routes and go off into these sometimes hour long research binges about different cities and regions etc.You must be a pilot....its like you have been everywhere ...

I count PR as part of the US... after spending billions to rebuild it we have no excuse for not adding them as #51
