They seem very similar, anyone mind pointing out the differences, apart from "one is made by Airbus and the other by Boeing"?

In my experience, the A321-200 is more fuel efficient than the 737-900ER. I don't know why, but I seem to make more money with the A321-200 even if I utilize the same configs as with the 737-900ER. Turn times might have something to do with it too. It just seems to work better for me in a lot of ways. Of course, this is not to say that the 737-900ER isn't a perfectly capable plane, but you just might need to figure out what works best for your airline and work from there. Ordering the longest range variant of a type of aircraft isn't always the best option as you have to consider what airports you'll serve using that aircraft and play to the length of the runways you would be using.

 

But in general, that is my experience with the 2 aircraft types. Hope this helps!
