How I failed at liveries

After putting in a lot of effort into making my own airline brands, I have to say that all my brands were a failure. Since not many people liked my brands, I would often redesign my liveries to address what needed to be improved on, but little did I know that this would only dilute my brands even further. As I kept trying and failing, I would give up and abandon my brands frequently. Now that I realize that I'm a terrible designer, I'm already deciding to exit livery designing altogether, and even give up on my newest brand, Tashkent Air. I know tons of successful airlines others have built, but sadly, I'm not one of those people who succeed despite trying different regions around the world to launch a brand. And with O1 just restarting, I have no idea where else to start over... :(

In my experience, it's easier to build a brand in the gallery than in the game. The game is unforgiving. The gallery can be. But I have put a lot of effort into the last year in the gallery and my improvement has been remarkable, especially since I hate art. You were close on a lot of your designs, and even though some absolutely terrible liveries were produced in the process, you gotta trust the process. Don't let your dreams be dreams.

¡OE! no seas bruto ¡OE!

Man how can you call your designs a crap if you do not have a acceptable critic users?

First man.. DO your DESIGNS because YOU WANT and YOU LIKE your own WORK! not because others dislike. if you like, is enough to make.

Second. Here in AE forums/galleries, there are only 2 or 3 persons that have good critic about others work. And have the kindness to say how can you improve.

Third: There are a lot of TROLLS that dont like nothing, They believe ultimate design judges (look their profiles you will see a poor evil with nothing worth to admire (even their galleries)) they only flood with good reviews to their friends, no matter if is a crap.

They hate anything that you do without reasonable argument.

(I report some of them.)

Writing rude and negative reviews is the basic cause to ignore them. Because they dont help to nothing even you to improve.

  • Then MAN continue improving your liveries and only hear people that want to help you to improve. MOON is a good guy as example.

  • If you make a livery for some, focus in the critics of that people, not in others.

I insist!

This is what I did so far, and it's for an LCC in R4. Never liked the idea of running an LCC, but I gave it a shot this time

I still have to add in the registration and the Moroccan flag to the livery, so be patient :)

It's a known element of Airline Empires that a lot of people on here are very analytical of details, and critical of design, so a bit of harsher-than-normal criticism is certainly to be expected. But that doesn't mean you should just give up at the first sign of harsh feedback. I can say from my own experience, as can everyone else, that we were in your shoes once. There was a point in time where livery creation was tough for us, and it still is for some of us, even though our skills have been better shaped and molded since then.

If there is any single element to livery making that I strongly urge you and anyone else reading this to practice, it is the notion of patience. Many of AE's best brands were not simply conceived, created, and mastered in a single night. They all took a long time, and several spurts of trial and error, before reaching their achieved looks. If you're able to hone the skill of patience, and take a lot of time to craft a brand, you will most certainly end up with something stellar. I can almost guarantee you this.

Just remember: Good things take time!
