Emerald Aviation is an American aircraft manufacturer with it's corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas. It started in 1989 building smaller, light GA aircraft, but has since made moves into the small and medium sized jet markets of commercial aircraft. The companies' existing plant in New Iberia, Louisiana opened in 1991 has been turning out small single engine and dual engine trainers and personal aircraft. Two newer, larger facilities for the coming aircraft lines are currently under construction in Shreveport, Louisiana. The new facilities will require runway 14/32 at the Shreveport Regional Airport to be extended to 11,000ft, and land will be acquired for a new one-million-square-foot moving assembly line. Additional facilities for aircraft production in Texas are currently being studied. Specifications of the new airplanes are yet to be determined, but estimates and early reports place them within the 100-200 seat airplane market. Additional studies into both smaller and larger jets are being looked into at this time.
