I think what all of you are forgetting is that AE's numbers are weekly utilization, not daily. Sure a flight can take 29 hours of utilization, but that's for the entire week. And the turn isn't instant in this case. Most likely ANZ29 flies there, sits at the gate and is either checked or serviced, and then turns at a much later time. Then on it's inbound flight the same thing happens. Turn time is a minimum, not a standard. Even at my local airport. We have Cessna Caravans in and out frequently. Turn time is theoretically 5 or so minutes but they take a lot more time than that because it's more practical. Another thing you aren't considering is that on routes such as ANZ29, different aircraft fly it. It's not like a single aircraft operates that flight every day or so. ANZ might have 7 or more aircraft that operate ANZ29.

Okay, let's face it, AE is not perfectly realistic. I generally use 10-15 hrs utilization for my regional and narrowbody aircraft (I haven't used widebodies very much). This is pretty close to some real-life airlines (like jetBlue, etc) and gives some leeway for AE's addition of turn times into the utilization calculation.

One thing to remember is that not every aircraft has the same utilization. One plane might spend 18 hours in the air (and in AE turning around) during a 24 hour period, while another is only operating for 15, and others aren't flying at all, etc. What really matters is the overall utilization of the entire fleet. So, because of AE's addition of turn times, I would say 10-15 hours utilization is fairly realistic for an airline.

Iam new a player in AE and the in-game aircraft utilisation is something that confuses me. As I want my plane to be on time, looking at the OTP sitting at just 60% baffles me. I have played 2 worlds so far, the first one I used 18-19 hours which is probably too high. In the second one, I use around 16-17 hours a day. Let's remember that this is the block time, not the actual flight time itself.

I flew with Emirates on DXB-BHX frequently. I believe Emirates utilise their aircraft around 12-16 hours a day depending on the destinations and what I mean is only the flight time itself excluding the turnaround. Most of the major destinations in Europe and Asia are around 6-8 hours, excluding Middle East, from Dubai. As for the DXB-BHX, the flight takes about 7 hours and the same for the return. Also, they must use the same aircraft for the return flight. I usually take EK39 which is a 0725 flight from Dubai and arrive at BHX around 1125(in winter) or 1225(in summer) UK time. The return flight, EK38 departs just 2 hours later which arrives around half hour after midnight in Dubai. If we calculate the total block time, it is around 17 hours.

What I mean here is that 16-17 hours utilisation in-game should yield higher OTP rather than just 60%. It's kind of depressing to see some people use an aircraft just 12 hours a day and left it hanging around half the day when it can make more money.

Btw, I joined the latest Rdelta and S4E and actually managed to get 96% rep in Rdelta and 100% in S4E but I pulled out from both because I am quite busy atm

I think I agree with you. It seems that it is almost impossible to max out OTP.

Welcome to Airline Empires, and good job with your amazing results in your first games!
