Hello all,
Not sure if this is the proper section (should I have put it in the RP section?), or if this has been done before, but I thought we could maybe create a monthly event to showcase and display the community's best talents by having a livery contest.

My idea (but very open to suggestions!) is that once a month, we could have a theme and contestants would post their work , over say a period of two weeks, and during the second half of the month, we could have on that same topic a community vote to select the best design of that month.

Maybe we could add some rules, as to what aircraft category the livery should be painted on, the era, location, the airline's positioning etc.

Thoughts? :-)

Hi Edge

This idea has been put up before and the responses weren't good.

I mean, we know who we are and our destructive nature. I personally think competition will just fuel that.

My idea is to make a monthly theme that can give us not only challenge, but also new ideas.

We can open discussions with suggestions and feedback, but avoid any probability to say that someone is better than someone else.

So make something like this:

January: Incorporate Hibiscus logo

February: Use Pantone 448C colour

March: Make livery for 787-10

April: Make livery for Papua New Guinea based airlines

and so on

That's just my 2 cents.

The idea of a challenging theme is indeed good, and funny what you mention, I actually had exactly the same idea in mind about the Papua New Guinea airline haha

How about a highly specific theme in that case, that would be challenging to everyone: Papua, modern flag carrier, medium haul Islander aircraft for instance?

TOM had the BLDM contest this year I believe. It was ok but it wasn't very well run (no offense TOM). I would be in favor of this starting up again.

Sad to heard that in the past didnt work.

There are other difficulties like how you proof that you made your livery .

Anyway i remember in IVAO-CO the monthly screenshot contest, Award for best screenshot and original screenshot. I remember i did submit a ATR 72 cargo parked in the night with rain animated gif,

Thank you all for your feedback.

I'm still hoping for the best, I think I want to give this a try.

I think what this needs is ground rules and a very well defined frame so as to get some great work by the community. And why not, as SKY mentioned, not making this a contest but a challenge to outdo outsell rather than the neighbour? I hadn't thought about that but I love the idea. And get some input to what should the next month's challenge be.

Each month, a challenging topic, and see who comes up with what.
