Either way, the forums themselves are fun. Taking them away would be a large blow to AE.
Agreed 10000%

Agree Infinity%! I now spend more time on the forums than the game itself!
Yup me too
Airline empires doesn't need money. Quite honestly, if I'm forced to pay, I'm gone.
I agree 100%.
Flesh out th AE wiki to answer any questions about the game folks might have
Then charge folks for the privledge of using the forums to finance any improvements the website might need.
Stop thinking about the trolls/spammers for a moment. And think about the future players who will come and see that they will have to pay just to ask a question.
Limiting posts/Banning is the solution I find on getting rid of this trolls & spammers.
A lot of players (including me) would probably look for other options if we will be forced to pay just to use a forum.

Okay new idea to achieve the same ends this would've done until you freeloaders complained.
We should ban everybody under the age of 18 on AE
LOL
I insist we are a few active people to make a significative sum.
. I remember another project that its free, but they make money offering premium features like improving the graphic aspect of the game. If you want to set the colors or livery you need to pay monthly or yearly. things like that. I think is more useful, and "intelligent way to maintain the project"
Carlos "SUJETO" Vargas Sánchez.

I second this.
What if we had an exam to acquire a license to use the internet
That would be great but I do hope they allow those who are under 18 to also take the exam.

Charging for anything in a game that used to be free is recipe for disaster. I love this site and the community and I want AE4 as much as the next guy, but a fee isn't a solution. How did the devs initially develop the game? We could do something like that. And the whole 18+ thing is just decor. Any 12 year old can say they're 19. It ain't hard at all, as I'm sure most of you know. And why ban minors? Many under 18 are quite mature and contribute as much as the adults here (albeit there are the exceptions here as well, but still). Ads could do it.

Thank you!
How about if AE was split into free, trial and paid? We need the money for Ae4. I find it hilarious that you all think the ads cover the website. It breaks even or even loses money but seriously are we going to get AE4 with that? no...
God, I'm sorry but something has to give to forward the website. Whether is banning the scum (alot of it is being stupid on this thread), actually banning <13 yr olds (which I'm sorry is a serious 180 from Yuxi's previous view on this, and a legal issue that I could get a lawyer to sue Yuxi for very easily with the mature topics talked about), pay to use forums to make sure we curb spamming or other issues, pay to play certain parts (like private servers, beta access, your own portion of the site), ad rates alone are not enough to ensure the longevity.
I know OP was being sarcastic, but In all seriousness we should be thinking about this. Ya'll expect everything but refuse to put the work into it, monetary or not.
Childish and I'm tired of being a veteran that is silent.
Idk about everyone else, but personally I don't expect anything from this. I'm fine just the way it is. And I can understand why it would be profitable to make the forums a paid feature, but we need to understand that part of the community will quit as a result, and many members (like myself) don't have the financials to support this. Plus you'd need to add a hell of a lot more to justify the forums being restricted. It would be great to have someone do everything for free lol
The only issue being, that I think only 10 people will pay. Like I said before is that AE is best because it is free. I would be willing to forfeit AE4 for everything on this site to be free. It would simply be best for AE to remain free. The cost of other sims is why they are not as popular as AE. I’ve played airlinesim before and one of the major drawbacks is the price. So paying would ruin the game. Ads would do better at the end of the day. I think Yuxi knows this stuff and there will be a cold day in hell before he does thisHow about if AE was split into free, trial and paid? We need the money for Ae4. Honestly not sure if hiding anything behind a paywall is going to get this site anything but less members and even less posts in the long run. That remains the main reason that I have never joined airliners.net. I know that I personally come back to play because it's free and I enjoy how the game is put together. Not overly complicated, and it's flexible to the point where you can do pretty much anything. Honestly, as some have said here, I think some more ad revenue wouldn't be a bad thing for development, especially if we limit signature sizes on the forum so it doesn't look like a hot mess. Small ads like the ones already in-game wouldn't ruin anyone's experience. Also, YouTube and Google Adsense can net good cash on an established channel. Maybe an AE YouTube channel might help out, with tutorials on the game and livery creation.
