This world offers the DC-7, which is odd. Here's why:
The DC-7 went out of production in 1958.
The DC-8 was in production in 1960, when the world starts.

But your starting aircraft is 2 or 3 years old when you get it so it makes sense.

So? In s3b the 733 has just entered production when the world starts not to mention the md83...

Plus - you could do a 707 as a starter or the DH comet - that is the same size as DC-7, plus it is available from a few years before the start of the world...

At the same time, you can't buy more DC-7s to keep your mx cost down.

The An-10A and/or the IL-18 would be pretty good starting aircraft for O2 also.

True - it would provide a nice long-range - especially with Il-18, plus then it increases the eastern options to 2 vs 2 western.
