They can order different families, which has separate delivery time.

Hi, sorry I explain better.
DC-8-50 available since 15 month.
Delivery: 1aircraft every 3week.
So 15month = ~ 60 week
60 week / 1 aircraft every 3 week = 20 aircraft
Almost all airline have 20-22 DC-8-50, except one.
How an airline can have almost the double of the aircraft (35).
And this happen with other aircraft (like 707).
Thanks for your help
Regards

Maybe they bought used aircraft.

I'm sure there is some sort of exploit when ordering aircraft. There are always one or two airline that have way more aircraft than anyone else and the number of aircraft in service is higher than the total number of orders :P

Hum I don t think there is 15 DC-8 to buy. This aircraft is good, very new and I still never see one in the market. But I cannot be sure

So it's "normal" 😄

But it's really sad if player can cheat to have more plane quickly and then scam all the route... really don't like this idea.

Because the goal of the game will begin:
- Play a low cost airline
- scam the cheater with ticket at 10$
... sad 😄

Perhaps because starting aircraft are in service but don't count as orders?

I think that the player bought some aircraft from the used market. I was quite lucky when in R0 just after the 707 had started rolling out a big company declared bankruptcy and just then I was trying to "fish" some good planes on the used market and suddenly saw 15-20 707-120 with 0 years. I barely had enough cash to buy them, it was like I was running to catch flying money like you see in movies   .

So I think this is the case aswell. Why don't you simply just ask the player how he did it?  ;)

Since every now and then a few airlines either go bankrupt or restart, a collection of planes ends up for sale in the used market - these planes start showing up in the market at the turn of a new game day.

There are a few aggressive airlines that make a point of snapping up these planes right after they appear. Thus it is possible for an airline to have more planes of a certain type in his/her fleet than other airlines simply because they are constantly looking to snap up these planes the moment they appear on the used market and they make it a habit to check the used market every time a new game day starts
.

Also, be aware that a few airlines have a 2nd airline (legal) which periodically "fail", thus resulting in the eventual appearance of a batch of planes after the failed airline is bankrupted and restarted. Since that player knows when it restarted, he or she could conceivably be on the lookout to snag some or most of those planes.

In addition, some airlines buy out their remaining leases, and then immediately sell off those planes to the market, presumably to keep their fleet "modern" and up-to-date with the times, thus resulting in yet another source of additional planes in the used market.

So my advice is to make it a point to check at the start of each new game day to see if a new supply of planes become available on the used market, and be ready to snag as many of them as you can.

What world was it on? Sandbox worlds automatically fill up with used aircraft after a month.

KrisGE - the opening poster of this thread - plays in R1, so presumably he is talking about R1.

However, all worlds experience this supposed "cheating" - In R1 I am currently the highest ranking airline and the one with the most planes.

But I didn't cheat - nor probably did most or all of the airlines with "excess" planes in R1.

The used market is the primary source for supplementing your fleet with additional planes. But you have to aggressively and repeatedly check the used market the moment a new day turns over. When you do, be ready to quickly snap up the planes you are interested in, because many plane types are in high demand and thus wont be on the market long - especially not in the early years of that world. The situation improves once 7 to 10 years of a world have elapsed.
