Does everything get deleted? If no, what happens to aircrafts that came out after the start date? I don't think I'll be able to keep a plane built in 2007 if the game starts in 1990, right? But if everything just gets reset, what is the point in playing? One would have to build up everything from scratch over and over, no?

About the size of it. Everything gets deleted and you start from scratch, whether people like it or not.

But it's fine if it all resets, because if you play in a world from the beginning it takes real life months for it to reach the end.

People are stupid.

I'm on the newbie world so it only takes around a month for everything to reset. The other worlds may take four months but the player isn't really able to accomplish more since time is just stretched (20min for one ingame day instead of 5min per day). I kind of don't understand why one should play and grow if everything just gets deleted all the time..

The main reason is that as more and more airlines get huger and huger, the demand on server resources becomes prohibitive.  Especially because Yuxi foots the bill entirely out of his own pocket.

Thus as long as the game remains free, there will be no permanent airlines.  There is a start date, a finish date, and a ranked by valuation goal, and that's it.

Also, secondarially, the number of players drop off severely once 2 or 3 airlines dominate and are so far ahead that no other airlines realistically could catch up.  So the periodic reset of all worlds is a good thing.

There are worlds that last for about a real-life year.

I am madly in love with this game.

RE-START ... thought it would help newbies like me to learn and compete.

After reading through the answers, understood that it reduces the LOAD on servers too.

real-life pressures allow me to just play two worlds.. and I am very happy with my own progress.

you don't believe... but, my politico-geography has started improving with the world-map and all.

thanks ... a lot lot lot many THANKS to the developers and designers of the game.

as also a lot of thanks to co-players.

Makes a lot of sense, thanks for your helpful response. I guess I'll just keep playing and enjoy the game :)

What makes this game so fun, is that there are SO many "worlds" to choose from. If you want a 'fast-paced' world, choose one of the Sandbox games. Those are my favorite. They tend to be between the 1990's-Present, and one "game day" is only 5 real-time minutes.

But-- if you want to take it slow, and build your airline from literal scratch, you can choose a world that runs at 15 or 20 minute real-time minutes.

The best advice I can offer you or anyone wanting to get a real feel for this, is to look at the World Times, and jump in after a world is reset. My favorite is any Sandbox world. That way, everyone is at the beginning, and everyone has a fresh start. The "winner", per se, is simply the one whom at the end of the world-time, has the highest valuation. I have accomplished this a few times, but it's the competitive nature of the game that keeps me locked in. Explore the menus (on the left side of the screen when you're playing) and you'll likely understand why this game is so addictive!

And to the Administrator, Developers, etc.; For a free online game as deep as this one is, you're the true winner. Thank you for your service to te online multiplayer 'sim-gaming' community.

Sincerely,
