How Subsidiaries and Mergers Could be Implemented in-game

Hello everyone,

First of all, I find it very annoying when people link 20 different forum threads from 2012 as a comment. That does not help develop the idea. Anyways, this is how subsidiaries and mergers could work.

 

Subsidiaries

 

Start-up: If you decided to create a subsidiary of your airline, you would have to pay a decent sum of money to start it. There would be an amount to pay based on your airline's valuation ($30 million + 5% of value?) in addition to a cost to move planes from your main airline to the subsidiary.

 

Rules: Subsidiaries could be started anywhere in the world, but there are restrictions if one is started in another country than your airline.

 

Local Subsidiaries: (read below on mergers for more info): you can move money from your subsidiary to your main airline for a 10% bank fee. you can merge your airline and it's subsidiary for only administration costs. You can also negotiate selling your subsidiary with another player as a totally separate entity.

International Subsidiaries: (read below on mergers for more info) with an international subsidiary, you can still move money around, but there is an international fee of 20%.you cannot merge your subsidiary with your airline, but you can sell the subsidiary as a separate entity to another airline based in the country in which your subsidiary is based.

 

Mergers

 

Cost: the starting cost of merging with another airline would be 115% of the airline's value. You and the owner of the airline that the merger will be with can negotiate upwards of the starting 115%. 

 

The two players who complete the merger will then have shared control, but the one that sold their airline will not be able to bankrupt the merged airline. 

 

You can buy stakes in airlines (same 115% valuation will be the starting price before negotiating) and when the whole airline is bought or the world ends, you get that percent of the personal award money (see below).

 

Personal Money

 

This would instill more competition between players in the game. The more money your airline sells for or the more your airline is worth at the end of the world, the more personal money your account would get. It would make your airline credit rating higher in future airlines. This idea needs further development.

I don't think the devs actively read this sub forum anymore. The idea has been brought up in the past and ****if**** AE 4 ever comes Mergers, Subsidiaries , etc. might be there.

Will subsidiaries take up airline slots, and can you have more than one subsidiary in a world?

It's a good idea but this idea will never be part of this game because the developper are no longer working on AE, except for repairing some server problems...

Is there even a point in keeping the feature suggestion forum if there is no hope on the horizon of any of these ideas ever being implemented? It just seems like an exercise in futility to me.
