So recently Boeing launched B737 MAX10, with a 1.64 meter stretch making it the largest version of B737 MAX family. With such a small difference with B737 MAX9. I personally think they should just cancel the MAX9 and offer all the airlines MAX10 instead. As we can see, the MAX10 already cannibalizing almost all of the MAX9 market. As of today, the order book for MAX9 stands at only 67 frames while MAX10 already gaining 252 orders in such a short spans, with majority of the orders came from the conversion from the MAX9 to the MAX10.

With such a tiny differences (B737 MAX10 have 8.54% less range according to Technical Specs released by Boeing) and 10 seat difference between the MAX9 and MAX10. Do you think Boeing should have canceled the MAX9 projects, knowing that almost all the airlines already and currently in the process of converting to the MAX10?

There is the possibility that they thought that the MAX 9 wouldn't have been overtaken by the 10. Although, the difference between them seems unnesecary, which is where I see your question.

AE is the best.

Could there ever be a 737 variant that can match the length, range, and versatility of the long-gone 757? I think there should be one.

Cancelling the 757 production was Boeing's biggest mistake. The MAX 10 will never EVER beat the A321neo. It's an aircraft Boeing made so they have something to sell until new technologies arrive to render and all-new aircraft feasible. I can't see the MAX 10's production run going beyond 5 years because the MoM/797(?) should be available by around 2023.

But the MOM/B797 I believe is a Double-aisle aircraft. It would be closer to B767-200ER and B767-300ER capacity compared to B757-200 (The smaller B757 that actually sells). So I don't think the MOM could kill off B737MAX10, mainly because B737 is a domestic aircrafts while the MOM would be for regional/medium-haul flights.

The Single-Aisle and Double-Aisle make a tons of difference since Operating a single-aisle would be much more profitable.

To my knowledge the 737 MAX 9 has a captive buyer in Lion Air as its literally the biggest plane most (current) airports in Indonesia can handle comfortably

That's the main problems with Lion air. B737MAX8 would be able to handle 196 passengers max with 4 Flight Attendants. While their current B737-900ER only fitted with 214 passengers with 5 Flight Attendants.

It would be more logical to order B737MAX8 and B737MAX10 (approximately around 224Y to 230Y) than to keep the B737MAX9. I believe They already order 50 B737MAX10. They decided to went with the MAX8 for most of their orders I believe.

Since when is the MAX 10 a 757 replacement, especially after Boeing essentially confirmed the MoM 3 days later? AFAIK Boeing never meant the MAX 10 to replace the 752, but to complement the MAX 9 and to better compete with the A321neo. And the A321 LR isn't a 757 replacement either. Very few orders compared to how many 757's are still flying today. Sure, not upgrading the 757 like the 737 Classic/NG and leaving it aside for 20 years was a BIG mistake, but everyone seems to be waiting around for the MoM. By the end of it's production the MoM could easily have 3-4k orders.

I think it's pretty clear that B737MAX10 are meant to compete with A321NEO instead of being B757-200 replacement. The MOM would do that. Although I doubt it would have 3-4k order. Probably 1-2k max if they come up with 2 variants with the stretch version selling better than the base model.

Let's just say Boeing should re-launch the production of the all mighty Boeing 757-200! But with improvements of course.

Yeah, no. The 757 is outdated. A new plane would be better in this case. The 757 MAX will never happen. But the MoM/797 most definitely will, and if it has 20% more pax and range as they said at the Paris Airshow then it's the perfect plane for airlines right now.
