Ok I have a few Old Aircraft (A320) that I dont use anymore. What im asking is should I either Sell it or Scrap it. The aircraft's value is about $26M and the market value is $24M. But if I scrap it for parts, I will only get about $4M.

So what do you think. Should I Sell it or Scrap it and sell it parts ? If I scrap it, what's the Profit for me?

Sell it. Scrap will only help you with aircraft older than the game world or something. I've never seen a situation where scrapping has been better. That said, sometimes I do scrap planes for the fun of it, but you get a lot less money. In terms of the market value, when you sell, they will take some of that money away from you in a "comission", but you'll still get around 22 million for it. Scrapping, no comission, but still only 4m.

I've actually had small aircraft that were about 20 yrs and scrapping them was like 4x more profit than selling.

I was questioning this too - has anyone actually seen the case when scrapping is more financially viable than selling?

@gertjatsa, I've once bought a 40 yo or something dc 6 to try and see if I can get more money by scrapping than by selling but still, selling was more profitable.

Common sense says to scrap.

Happened to me a couple of times with extremely old aircraft...I don't remember which exactly, but now and again with very old ATRs.

I have some rather old Stratocruisers in R1 - a completely neglected airline. Sale value is $42 but scrap value is $10. There are still another 9 years in the game world so I want to see how low the valuation can go.

Only reason I see to scrap is to keep aircraft out of the used market. Helps to keep away competition that cannot afford new planes if used are not available.

For almost all of the times, selling would earn a lot more money compared to scrapping it. It's very rare for scrapping to be more profitable than selling. Scrapping an airplane would only prevent it from getting on the used market, which means no one else could buy the plane.

In the end, I sold the aircraft anyway(12 sold and 3 scrapped for fun XD). But if my rival bought the aircraft, they will get a sh*tty and old planes anyway : )

Unless you wanna help a guy with a scrapyard build a giant robot, I recommend sell.
