Don't worry about maintenance. If you have enough DOP, maintenance is nothing - maybe 5% - 10%. Just fly one type of aircraft until you have at least one million income every game day -- that will save you a lot of money on maintenace.

To get DOP, fly one aircraft type on a flight near maximum range as much as possible. I fly 55x a day to Vienna which was the first flight which I got above 500K / day on.

I find that the opposite tends to work for me. It's why I only fly short haul

Personally I try find a ballance so my aircraft hit capacity on either range or route and I tend to start off with 1-2 aircraft types before expanding more after profit grows to support the monthly cost of operating.

Aslong as you take into account operating costs you can grow into a huge money maker early game

The best thing, i find is to stick with the 747/A320 and fly regional from multiple airports. India and EU countries are good places, however india has much less competition, which makes it good

For larger planes, do longhaul because ticket prices are more, which gives you more money.
